Natural Bodies Centre was created by Gary Carter in 1992 to teach, train and encourage kinesthetic awareness, ease of movement, efficient body use in exercise, sport and many movement disciplines which can bring a renewed sense of health and vitality through into every day life through revolutionised personal training techniques, Yoga, Pilates, Gyrotonics, Martial Arts and Fascial Movement practices. Hosting Tom Myers for the first groudbreaking Anatomy Trains courses in 1999 through to 2003 of which after graduating with KMI in 2000 Gary co taught with Tom Anatomy trains in the UK and USA
Natural Bodies has been the first centre in the UK to be dedicated to the work and approach of Vanda Scaravelli. Vanda Scaravelli’s unique approach was not so much about executing postures but to cultivate the conditions that allow the bodies natural intelligence to awaken. This also brings an individuality to one’s yoga practice along with a deeper understanding. This unique approach to yoga allows everyone to work at their own pace. Learning to discover and feel the movement of the spine and the breath becomes a deep rooted part of the practice. Many students say it is like ‘coming home.’ We have drop-in classes ranging from a beginners’ understanding to those who have been practising for many years and would like to take their work deeper.
Influenced deeply by the work of Vanda Scaravelli, Gary Carter brings over 25 years of experience of Movement Anatomy, Chi Kung, Personal Training, Structural & Movement Integration to create a deeper understanding of the practice, cultivating the conditions that give rise to the combined freeing of the Spine in conjunction with the pull of Gravity and the overall ‘felt sense’ of the breath. By learning to follow the nature of our structure, our internal shapes, we end up going with the body and not against it! We ultimately find fluid movement and lightness with the potential to have free range of movement, restriction free, generating economy of body use…which after all.. is our Birthright!
